Badge Request
BADGE ISSUANCE PROCEDURE FOR ATTENDANCE TRACKING AND/OR OBSERVATORY ACCESS
The procedure for obtaining a badge for access to OAPd only, or for both access and attendance tracking (for fixed-term or permanent staff), is the same and follows these steps.
Prerequisites
To obtain an OAPd badge, the following requirements must be met:
Being already registered in the INAF database;
Being affiliated with OAPd (Padova, Ekar, or Asiago) with an active contract or as an associate;
Having activated the IDEM - INAF account for access to various services.
These prerequisites are mandatory, and no exceptions are allowed.
In case of discrepancies between the INAF database and the individual's contractual status, it is necessary to contact the INAF administration for the appropriate updates. In particular, please note that it is not possible to obtain a badge (or renew a previously issued badge) if the contract or association with OAPd has expired in the INAF database.
The validity of issued badges is strictly linked to the duration of the contract or association with INAF - OAPd, as further specified below.
First-Time Request
To obtain a new badge, follow these steps:
Authenticate with the credentials above at the following URL: https://web.oapd.inaf.it/mybadge
Click on the "+" button at the bottom right and confirm the request.
Wait for a confirmation email at your @inaf.it email address.
The request cannot be fulfilled if the prerequisites for obtaining a badge are not met.
The confirmation email contains a PIN that must be used to collect the badge.
The badge must be collected within seven days of the request at the automatic dispenser located at OAPd, Padova headquarters, second floor, South wing. Authenticate using the PIN provided in the email and follow the instructions given by the dispenser. The process involves two main steps after authentication with the PIN: (1) retrieving the card and (2) validating it using the dispenser's reader. Without the second step (which can be done at the time of collection or later using the same PIN), the badge cannot be activated.
No other badge delivery or collection methods are available.
Only one active badge per person is allowed at OAPd. The PIN is valid for a single collection/validation sequence and expires after seven days if not used.
Renewal of an Existing Badge
The validity of all badges issued for OAPd access is extended by two months beyond the expiration date of the employment contract or association with OAPd ("grace period"), as recorded in the INAF database.
Beyond this period, badges are automatically deactivated. However, if the contract or association is renewed in the INAF database within the two-month grace period, or if a new contract or association with OAPd is signed and correctly registered in the INAF database within this timeframe, the badge validity is automatically extended. In these cases, no explicit renewal request is required.
If the contract/association has been expired for more than two months, the badge has been deactivated but can be reactivated upon explicit request.
To reactivate an existing badge, the prerequisites mentioned above must be met, meaning the INAF database must be updated accordingly. The process is as follows:
Request badge reactivation via the web interface: https://web.oapd.inaf.it/mybadge
Users are encouraged to keep their badges for a reasonable period after their contract/association ends to facilitate a potential renewal process should a new contract or association be signed. This avoids the need to dispose of the old badge and request a new one.
Lost/Stolen Badge
Use the link https://web.oapd.inaf.it/mybadge to block the badge as soon as possible, indicating the reason for the request.
Request a new badge as a "First-Time Request."
Non-Functioning Badge
A badge may not work either due to a malfunction (in which case the reader remains inactive) or because its validity period has expired (the reader emits an audible alert and flashes red).
In the first case, after verifying that the badge is indeed defective (e.g., by testing it on another reader), proceed as in the "Lost/Stolen" case, specifying "malfunction" as the reason for the request.
The second case occurs when the contract/association with INAF has been expired for more than the grace period. In this situation, proceed as indicated under "Renewal of an Existing Badge."
In case of doubt, users are encouraged to check their badge status using the badge dispenser reader (South wing, second floor) by selecting "Informazioni su un badge" from the main menu. Please note that badges should be presented to the readers by holding them close (1-2 cm), keeping them steady, and ensuring a reasonable distance (at least 20 cm) from other RF-ID cards to avoid reading issues caused by interference (a common issue when attempting to scan a badge kept in a wallet with other wireless cards).
Q: The badge I currently have is still active. How long will it remain active?
A: It will remain active as long as you are listed in the INAF records with an active contract (or an association) at INAF-OAPd. This works similarly to the @inaf.it email account, except that the badge will be automatically deactivated two months after the contract termination date. (MEMO: The grace period for the email account is three months).
Q: How can I check my status in the INAF records?
A: You can verify your data at the URL https://hr-inaf.ced.inaf.it/. If you have any doubts or find incorrect information, please contact the administration.
Q: My badge is no longer active because the contract renewal, association, or new contract was registered in the records after more than two months. Will it be reactivated automatically?
A: No, once deactivated, the badge will NOT be automatically reactivated even if the INAF records are updated. You need to reactivate it through the web interface at https://web.oapd.inaf.it/mybadge.
Q: I don't have a badge. I have requested one. How can I enter OAPd to collect my badge if I don't have a badge to enter?
A: "Ah... we hadn't thought of that."
However, you can still enter by having someone already inside open the door for you during OAPd's regular working hours or by arranging an appointment. Since badge collection via the dispenser requires authentication using the PIN received by email, you can also delegate a trusted colleague or collaborator to collect it on your behalf by simply sharing the PIN with them.
